Many who come back continue (allegedly) to glimpse angels, receive visions, or find themselves in a healing ministry.
Such allegedly is the case with a man from Ohio (now in Tennessee) we recently wrote about, Mickey Robinson, who “died” in the horrid aftermath of a small-plane crash while skydiving. “I have had profound dreams and understanding of what they mean and I’ve had visions and encounters with angels,” he told us the other day, during a little chat.
There is that — visions, angels.
There are also what he and others describe as miraculous healings — radical ones, some that verge on raising the dead.
In four cases, asserts this man (whose experience occurred when he was 19, and who is now a full-time evangelist), desperately ill folks have come out of hopeless comas through the intervention of God. “People in real serious situations have been healed,” is the way he puts it, recounting:
— A young man from Ohio who was in a horrible accident and for twelve weeks a vegetative coma. Mickey went to the hospital and prayed for him and the man sat up and groaned. And though he lapsed back into his comatose state, a couple weeks later he woke up for good and was found to be completely healed, with no brain damage.
— There was the Orthodox-Jewish girl in Chicago who had a severe, almost fatal reaction to a tetanus shot and regressed until she was totally dependent on life-support. After prayer, she too groaned and recovered (in this case immediately; by the by, she became a Christian).
— There was a woman in Iowa, 32, who had been completely incapacitated with back problems — in such pain that she was taking massive doses of drugs and some of her nerves had to be killed. She ended up jumping up and down on her feet during one of Mickey’s services, the pain suddenly and totally banished. (“I was clueless about it,” says Robinson, emphasizing that he’s just a participant, that God does all these things, often without Mickey knowing.)
— There was a woman in California. Mickey got a “word of knowledge” about her that had to do, oddly enough, with chocolate. When she was later diagnosed with “untreatable” breast cancer, she suddenly felt heat going through her body during one of his services. She described the feeling as “sweet as chocolate” — and discovered that she was free of the malignancy.
“Sometimes you see results,” he points out, “and sometimes you don’t. Why some and not others? The answer is: I have not a clue. But everyone around the world is seeing more of the activity of the Lord. There is a remarkable global increase.”
Doing what pleases God brings the greatest reciprocal result, as he puts it. “Love the hell of the people” (literally).
Loving God, he says, is “the ultimate pleasure.”
As times darken, the Light of God, in those who accept Him, is brightening.
During his experience with the other side, he encountered the “outer darkness,” calling out a prayer from his Catholic upbringing that may have saved him. “I’m sure there’s only one path to God,” he learned from his brush with the hereafter. “It’s through Jesus.”
[Today’s Mass reading (1 John): Beloved:
We receive from him whatever we ask,
because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.
And his commandment is this:
we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ,
and love one another just as he commanded us.
Those who keep his commandments remain in him, and he in them,
and the way we know that he remains in us
is from the Spirit whom he gave us.
Beloved, do not trust every spirit
but test the spirits to see whether they belong to God,
because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
This is how you can know the Spirit of God:
every spirit that acknowledges Jesus Christ come in the flesh
belongs to God,
and every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus
does not belong to God.
This is the spirit of the antichrist
who, as you heard, is to come,
but in fact is already in the world.
You belong to God, children, and you have conquered them,
for the one who is in you
is greater than the one who is in the world.
They belong to the world;
accordingly, their teaching belongs to the world,
and the world listens to them.
We belong to God, and anyone who knows God listens to us,
while anyone who does not belong to God refuses to hear us.
This is how we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of deceit.]
