U.S. Physicist: Alien nuclear bomb wiped out Mars civilization

Monmouth – A U.S. physicist claims evidence that an ancient Mars civilization was wiped out by nuclear bomb-armed aliens. He warns that evidence of a past nuclear attack on Mars raises concerns about a similar attack on Earth.
Brandenburg

Dr John Brandenburg, a plasma physicist, obtained his PhD from the University of California, Davis. He is an expert in propulsion technologies and a former consultant on Space Missile Defense and Directed Energy Weapons. He currently conducts research work at Orbital Technologies in Madison Wisconsin.

Brandenburg is scheduled to present on Saturday, at the 2014 Annual Fall meeting of the American Physical Society Prairie Section in Monmouth, Illinois, the astounding theory that a nuclear bomb wiped out an ancient Mars civilization.

The abstract of Brandenburg’s paper, titled “Evidence of Massive Thermonuclear Explosions in Mars Past, The Cydonian Hypothesis and Fermi’s Paradox,” to be delivered at the meeting, reads:

Analysis of recent Mars isotopic, gamma ray, and imaging data supports the hypothesis that perhaps two immense thermonuclear explosions occurred on Mars in the distant past…

Analysis rules out large unstable ‘natural nuclear reactors,’ instead, data is consistent with mixed fusion-fission explosions…

Analysis of new images from Odyssey, MRO and Mars Express orbiters now show strong evidence of eroded archaeological objects at these sites.

Taken together, the data requires that the hypothesis of Mars as the site of an ancient planetary nuclear massacre must now be considered. Fermi’s Paradox, the unexpected silence of the stars, may be solved at Mars.

The paper, reportedly due to be published in the Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, claims evidence for two massive nuclear explosions on Mars at two sites on the planet. Mars once had two civilizations, the Cydonians and the Utopians, wiped out by nuclear bombs detonated by technological aliens.

The site named Cydonia is the location of the formation on the surface of planet spotted by orbital crafts which looked like a human “face on Mars”but which, after closer examination, has been dismissed as incidental formations of dust dunes.

The purported evidence for nuclear explosions includes the red color of the surface of Mars which, according to Brandenburg, could be explained either by a naturally caused nuclear reaction or a nuclear device explosion which scattered radio-isotopes in the Martian environment.

NASA spacecraft, using gamma ray spectrometry, detected the fallout of the purported nuclear explosion, including Uranium and thorium, on the surface of the red planet.

When he first proposed the theory in 2011, he claimed that a naturally caused nuclear explosion devastated the entire planet about 180 million years ago, and warned that a similar incident could also occur on Earth.

He told Fox News in a 2011 interview: “The Martian surface is covered with a thin layer of radioactive nuclear isotopes including uranium, thorium and radioactive potassium – and this pattern radiates from a hot spot on Mars. A nuclear explosion could have sent debris all around the planet. Maps of gamma rays on Mars show a big red spot that seems like a radiating debris pattern … on the opposite side of the planet there is another red spot.”

In his new paper (PDF) he also points out the fact of high concentrations of Xenon-129 in the Martian atmosphere recently detected by NASA’s Mars Odyssey spacecraft. According to Brandenburg, spikes in the levels of Xenon-129 have also been detected on Earth in the aftermath of nuclear incidents, including the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.

But he has since abandoned the theory that the nuclear explosions occurred naturally. He now believes that the explosions were caused by an alien racehostile to young “noisy” civilizations.

Although some scientists have argued that the nuclear isotopes detected in the Martian atmosphere could have been derived naturally, Brandenburg claims that their presence in the Martian atmosphere is more consistent with the assumption that two massive hydrogen bomb explosions occurred.

In the 2011 interview with Fox News, he estimated the “natural explosion” at the Mare Acidalium region at about 1 million one-megaton hydrogen bombs.

Brandenburg argues that his theory could explain the Fermi Paradox which asks why we do not see, as we expect, evidence of abundant life in our cosmic environment.

Brandenburg concludes his paper: “Providentially, we are forewarned of this possible aspect of the cosmos. The author therefore advocates that a human mission to Mars is mounted immediately to maximize knowledge of what occurred.”

While scientists refuse to go along with Brandenburg’s bizarre speculations about aliens detonating nuclear bombs, some agree with the basic aspects of his theory about a nuclear reaction but insist it was a natural process that occurred slowly over millions of years.

Dr. David Beaty, science manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, described Brandenburg’s theory as fascinating but thinks that a slow natural nuclear reaction could explain the observations.

A colleague of Brandeburg’s at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Dr. Lars Borg, also said that natural geological processes could explain the observations.

Harrison Schmitt, a geologist and former Apollo spacecraft astronaut agreed that the planet shows signs of nuclear reactions. However, he insisted that they need not have been caused by a detonation but could have occurred gradually over the long geological history of the planet.

Another scientist, Edward McCullough, admitted that the colors and formations in the Mare Acidalium region of the planet need to be investigated closely to understand what really happened on the planet.

But Brandenburg insists that the evidence from recent measurements of nuclear isotopes on Mars is more consistent with nuclear “airburst” detonations than a slow “natural process.”

According to Brandenburg:

The high concentration of Xenon-129 atmosphere, the evidence from Krypton-80 and the detected pattern of excess abundance of Uranium and Thorium on Mars surface, relative to Mars meteorites, first seen by the Russians and now confirmed by the Mars Odyssey Spacecraft Gamma Ray Spectrometer, mean that the surface of Mars was apparently the site of massive radiological events, which created large amounts of signature isotopes and covered the surface with a thin layer of radioactive debris. This pattern of phenomenon can be explained as due to two large anomalous nuclear explosions on Mars in the past.

He concludes:

Given the large amount of nuclear isotopes in Mars atmosphere resembling those from hydrogen bomb tests on Earth, Mars may present an example of civilization wiped out by a nuclear attack from space.

It is possible the Fermi Paradox means that our interstellar neighborhood contains forces hostile to young, noisy, civilizations such as ourselves.

Brandenburg’s theory has attracted the attention of UFO and alien conspiracy theorists who are excited about what they see as a scientist’s endorsement of their conspiracy theories about an ancient Mars civilization wiped out by nuclear weapons-armed aliens.

Such theories are staple subjects of discussion on forums such asAbovetopsecret, MysteriousUniverse and Arkcode.
